Trump Defends Tough Stand On Protesters

President Trump

President Trump is defending his tough stand on protesters.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said governors should call in the military and "dominate the streets."

Nationwide protests have largely turned peaceful. Protests were sparked by the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man in police custody in Minneapolis. Trump also said everyone should be treated equally by law enforcement.

Meantime, Trump said he hopes Floyd is looking down and thinking the latest monthly jobs report is a "great thing that's happening for our country."

Trump called it a great day for Floyd and a great day for everybody. Two and-a-half million jobs were added in May and the unemployment rate dropped to 13.3 percent. It was 14.7 percent in April. The numbers reflect a slight recovery of economic activity after a free-fall linked to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic

President Trump says he hopes the protests will calm down because of the new jobs report.
