Trillions of Cicadas Set to Swarm In A Spectacular Natural Event

Get ready to witness something truly spectacular!

Trillions of periodical cicadas are gearing up for a big moment as they emerge from underground in a rare event that only happens every 13 or 17 years. And guess what? This year, we're in for a double treat as two groups, Brood XIII and Brood XIX, are set to debut together, mainly in Illinois.

These cicadas are not your average bugs – with their striking red eyes and buzzing chorus, they're sure to steal the show! As the soil temperature hits around 64°F, they'll start making their grand entrance, filling the air with their unmistakable sound. They'll be out and about from late April to June, doing their thing and leaving a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to witness it.

Some might worry that these cicadas will trouble plants, but fear not! These bugs play a vital role in keeping our ecosystem healthy, so we should welcome them with open arms.

Did you know you can even eat cicadas? Some adventurous eaters compare their taste to crunchy shrimp or lobster.

So, get ready to embrace this fantastic natural event and marvel at the wonders of the world around us!
