SPOKANE, Wash. -Gamers in downtown Spokane spent 24 hours playing for a good cause.
Uncle's Games hosted a 24-hour charity event called Extra Life from Saturday morning until Sunday morning raising money for the Children's Miracle Network. It's an event that's been happening for the last five years.
"Well we're helping the Children's Miracle Network with donations that we're doing for the gaming events, like the Unstable Booster Draft. You have to give a $5 donation to play but we're all just donating to help the kids,:" gamer Brandon Goss said.
Events included a Star Wars Armada tournament, a Pokemon league, a Star Wars X-Wing tournament and board game tournaments.
Donations ranged from $5 to $20 and all the donations stayed local.
Uncle's Assistant Manager Jasmine Lind said free food was going to be available around 4 a.m. Sunday, but besides that, it would be hardcore gaming all day and all night.
The Children's Miracle Network is a nonprofit that has a goal of providing the best care for kids. They rely on donations and community support because Medicaid and insurance don't fully cover the cost of care.
Goss, who has a son, says he's all in for anything benefiting children.
"I guess the main reason that it's important is, you know, I have a son and anything benefiting children is pretty coll and like I said, I like to play games. So it's just a good time to get out with my buddies and help somebody at the same time."
