SPOKANE, Wash. -Update: Spokane police continue to investigate a pair of stabbings that happened Tuesday afternoon. A suspect was taken into custody in one case, but no arrests have been made in the other.
The first stabbing happened at about 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Spokane Falls Blvd and Browne Street in downtown Spokane. Police say a man and a woman were injured. Officers were on scene quickly, and immediately began providing first aid to the more seriously wounded person. Their injuries do not appear life threatening.
The second stabbing happened about an hour later in the 1200 block of E. Trent. A man suffered a stab wound and was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries. Officers arrived and began gathering information about the suspect. Less than a half an hour after the incident was reported, SPD took 35-year-old Joseph W. Murray into custody. Murray was booked into the Spokane County Jail for first degree assault.
Major Crimes Detectives continue to investigate both stabbings Tuesday night. No arrests have been made in connection to the first stabbing.

Update: Shortly after a stabbing was reported near Spokane Falls Boulevard and Browne Street, officers were also called to another reported stabbing on E. Trent Ave. near the Union Gospel Mission. One person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
