SPOKANE, Wash. -Spokane will never be the same.

From coding the next big app, to live music, and even famous speakers, including former Secretary of State Colin Powell, the 10-day Foreground Festival has something for everyone.

Wednesday kicks off the innovation piece with evens like Sine and UW & Unicorn Code.

Then, the popular "Terrain" festival brings out the arts with a litany of musicians and literature.

Throw in a TedX talk that's scheduled for Saturday, October 6th, and you've got a heck of a line-up for the week.

And that's just the first week.

"As the urban center for some million people, the innovation, the arts and the culture of what we are in the city is really what it's all about and people need to re-imagine that," Spokane Mayor David Condon said.

Mayor Condon says this event isn't just for those visiting Spokane, it's for those who live here.

It's a chance for them to stop and take notice of the growth, culture, and vibrance that's re-emerged.

"I challenge you to choose something that you wouldn't normally do and get a taste of what it's all about here in Spokane," Mayor Condon said.

The final day is October 13th, 2018, with the "Bridge To Brunch" 5k/10k.

Your goal? The waffles at the finish line.
