Coeur d'Alene man identified as victim of fatal shooting in Colfax

Update: The Whitman County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim of Friday night's fatal shooting in Colfax.

Kenneth Allen, 55 of Coeur d'Alene, was killed in a vehicle after a woman reportedly was waving a gun at it on Colfax Airport Rd. Next of kin has been notified.

The suspect, 30-year-old Ashley Myers, will make her first appearance in Whitman County Superior Court Monday afternoon.

The investigation continues.

Previous coverage: The Whitman County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting that happened in Colfax Friday evening.

Around 6:45 p.m. Friday, authorities were notified of a woman waving a gun at a vehicle on Colfax Airport Rd. near the intersection of SR-26.

Upon arrival officers located an agitated woman, 30-year-old Ashley Myers, near the side of the road carrying a baseball bat. After detaining the woman, a man's body was located in the vehicle where she had been reportedly pointing the gun.

A loaded handgun was also located in the vehicle while additionally a substantial amount of methamphetamine was found outside the vehicle.

Myers, who is transient, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder after making statements that she intentionally shot the man.

This incident continues to be under investigation. The Sheriff's Office is working with the Coroner's Office to determine the exact manner of death.
