Spokane Valley Police ask for help identifying body

SPOKANE, Wash. -Update: Spokane County Major Crimes Detectives and the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office are working together to try to identify the dead woman found in the Spokane River over the weekend. They're asking for the public's help.

Attempted to identify the woman has not been successful. She is a white woman with dark hair.

A body was found in the Spokane River near Harvard Road late Saturday morning.

Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies say a passerby reported finding a body off the shoreline in the Spokane River east of Harvard Rd. around 11:20 a.m. Saturday.

Deputies and Spokane Valley Fire personnel responded and confirmed the report. Major Crimes Detectives are on scene conducting an investigation.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent pending positive identification, along with cause and manner of death when appropriate to do so.

No other information is available at this time.

This is the second body discovered near the Spokane River in the past three days. A body was found near the river by Mission Park late Thursday morning, which police believed to have been there for a while.
