One person dead after officer involved shooting in Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -At 7:15 pm on September 16, 2018 Walla Walla Police Officers were dispatched to the 1400 blk of W Pine in response to the report of a suicidal person, armed with a firearm. 

When officers arrived, they found the individual inside a vehicle.  After a short pursuit the individual stopped the vehicle on Myra Road.  The person was armed and exited the vehicle.  The armed individual refused commands provided by the officers, and three officers fired their guns in response to a perceived threat posed by the armed individual. 

Though officers immediately rendered aid to the subject, and called paramedics, the person involved did not survive.   

 

Names of the officers and subject are not being released at this time, pending family notifications. 

The three officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, per department policy.      

 

The Tri-Cities Metro Special Investigations Unit is investigating this officer involved shooting, per Walla Walla Police Department policy.
