PULLMAN, Wash. -Pullman fire and police crews are investigating what they call a number of suspicious fires around a fraternity house near the Washington State University campus early Sunday morning.

A fire destroyed a wooden deck behind the Theta Chi fraternity house, and there were multiple fires discovered around the brick structure.

Several frat members said they were awakened around 5:15 a.m. by the sound of the deck fire. They called 911 and tried to extinguish the fire with a garden hose to prevent it from moving up the multi-story house.

Firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire, but the deck was destroyed. Frat members had doused a fire at the front of the house with a garden hose. A fire investigator discovered an attempted fire in the patio area, and found five different ignition points around the house.

In addition to the deck being destroyed, there was some heat damage to a Honda vehicle and a dumpster near the deck. A window in the back of the house was broken from the heat as well.

No injuries or other damage to the house was reported. Investigators interviewed frat members and police are gathering evidence. They say there are no suspects at this time.
