Woman opts towards forgiveness after car window smashed

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -They say one of the hardest things to do is to forgive.

But that's exactly what Danielle Williams has done.

Last week, the mother of three was getting ready for work when she was surprised by her daughter.

Sometime overnight, someone shattered her passenger side window outside her Spokane Valley home, leaving glass all over the street and inside of the car.

Amazingly, whoever broke the window, didn't steal a single thing.

"They didn't take my money. They didn't take my cars, they didn't take anything," said Williams.

Instead of getting angry at what happened, Danielle got online and wrote a note to the vandal on Facebook.

"I've been trying to show my children by example how to forgive someone," said Williams.

"Whoever you are, I forgive you," read the beginning of the note as she went on to give the person advice and comfort. Later on in the note she asks that they learned a lesson and suggests to look for help if they need it.

With her daughter's birthday coming up, she said she wasn't expecting to spend gift money on a new window.

The takeaway for her - more importantly - is the message she is able to share with her children.

"I don't want to hold that frustration, not worth it," Williams said.
