Police, SWAT respond to standoff near Cleveland and Rebecca

Spokane Police and SWAT team members were responding to a standoff near Rebecca and Cleveland Wednesday evening. Officers on scene tell KHQ the standoff is related to a shooting over the weekend that left one man dead outside his home.

Officers are trying to get a person to come out of a home in the area of Rebecca and Cleveland. There is a large police response because authorities believe the person may be armed inside the home. Police are using a bullhorn to try to get the person to come out of the house on Wednesday.

UPDATE: Officers are using a loudspeaker trying to get Isiah Cavitt to come out of a home. Police here on scene tell me he’s wanted in connection to the death of 21yo Kionte Bullard who was shot and killed on the 3000 block of N. Nelson early Sunday morning. 

Police on scene tell KHQ they believe the standoff is related to a shooting that happened early Sunday morning near the Bemiss area. The shooting happened in the 3000 block of N. Nelson St. Police arrived and tried to save the man's life, but he died as a result of his injuries.

Police say the man was shot multiple times Sunday and they are still trying to determine the motive of the shooting.

Officers ask anyone in the area of Rebecca and Cleveland to stay in their homes, and others to avoid the area if possible.
