SPOKANE, Wash. -According to sheriff's deputies, it all started at the Crossland Motel where Skye Metcalf and Anthony Stedeford were staying.  Court documents show the two were both taking care of six-month-old baby Skarrlette living together for weeks. Which violated a no-contact order against Stedeford.

Just before noon on Tuesday, court documents say Stedeford left to go to a friend's house. The documents go on to say that  Metcalf says she accidentally tripped with baby Skarrlette and dropped her causing severe injuries. Metcalf says she called Stedeford who rushed to the motel. He then saw his injured baby and rushed both Metcalf and Skarrlette to the hospital.

Detectives say baby Skarrlette's eyes closed on the way to the hospital and she never opened them again. Court documents show that medical staff didn't believe Metcalf's tripping story and under questioning by detectives she admitted to punching the baby multiple times in the back of the head. During the interview court, documents say detectives noted Skye was quote "Showing little to no emotion and at times acting jovial."
