Newman Lake man sentenced for murdering girlfriend

Nicholas Holden, the man who plead guilty to murdering his girlfriend last Thanksgiving, has been sentenced to 195 months (16 years) in prison for the second-degree murder conviction.

It was an emotional day in court for the sentencing as both the family of the victim, 30-year-old Tina L. Stewart, and the family of Holden stood at the lectern to give impact statements.

Holden's own family members said they agree that he deserves to be punished for his actions but that they also think he deserves a second chance in life.

Holden also stood and share that he is sorry saying, "I apologize for my actions, I apologize for the loss, I apologize for every second of pain caused."
