SPOKANE, Wash. -More than 40 construction workers were given a full meal thanks to the owner of Skippers Restaurant on North Monroe Street.

“These guys are out working hard everyday in the rain and the snow and the heat,” said Owner Gary Jarvis. “And it’s a way of telling them we appreciate what they’re doing to do the job right and on schedule.”

Jarvis says his restaurant has lost money because of construction on Monroe, but he doesn’t blame the workers.

“They’re out there doing a lot everyday to feed their families just like my employees,” said Jarvis. “We’re trying to do the best we can to keep business up.”

Jarvis invited workers from both Red Diamond Construction and Murphy Brothers.

“We’re very happy with the turnout,” said Jarvis. “Everybody was very kind and cordial and we really enjoyed their company today.”
