FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. - Franklin County Sheriff's deputies say they have recovered the body of a man from Spokane who went swimming at Palouse Falls on April 21st.

Deputies, fire crews, Columbia Basin Dive Rescue teams and Washington State Park Rangers responded to a call of a person who had gone into the water under Palouse Falls and had not surfaced around 5:30 p.m. that day.

Witnesses reported three men in their early 20s decided to go swimming in the pool underneath the water fall. Two men got sucked into deeper water because of the strong current, and only one was able to surface again.

The two swimmers that made it back to shore were evaluated on scene by medical staff and were not injured.

The 23-year-old man's body was recovered late Sunday afternoon and the Franklin County Coroner is currently investigating. The release of the victim's name will be made after proper notification.
