SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -It's been a difficult few months for a family owned car dealership in Spokane Valley.
"It's a tough enough business as it is trying to get stuff to run right, make sure it's in good condition and then when something like this happens it just sets you back."
Earlier this week thieves were caught on camera breaking into vehicles on the VIP Auto Sales lot, getting away with tools and in-dash DVD monitors. The lot's owner says those monitors are becoming more of a target. And that wasn't the only time the business has been targeted this week.
"Fine work by the Spokane Valley Police Department, they were able to recover our vehicle before we even realized it was stolen," said owner Ben Cauble.
Over the last few months Cauble says the break ins have cost his business more than $10,000.
"It just hurts. You take a hit on it. You get frustrated and feel like no one's getting ahead besides the pawn shops," Cauble said.
To end crimes like this, Cauble says neighbors need to be on the look out for each other.
"It's more of a community effort to stop people like this. If it wasn't me that they were stealing from it would be somebody else."
As for those thieves, Cauble has a message for them.
"You're going to get caught eventually. It's just a matter of time."
Cauble says they've added more security to his dealership. He's hoping to find the thieves behind the break ins. If you know anything, call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
