City of Spokane settles lawsuit with Nancy Goodspeed

Nancy GoodspeedThe City of Spokane and former Parks and Recreation Department employee Nancy Goodspeed reached an agreement on Friday that resolved a lawsuit Goodspeed brought against the City.

The City will pay Goodspeed $165,000, according to the agreement. Goodspeed claimed she was illegally replaced from her job as the city attempted to manage a sexual harassment scandal involving former police chief Frank Straub. Goodspeed's lawsuit was originally seeking $1 million.

The settlement will still need approval from the City Council.

“The City thanks Nancy for her 9 years of service to the City and community,” a brief press release stated. “The City wishes her the best. Neither party will have any further comment on the matter.”
