SPOKANE, Wash. -Spokane Police are investigating after an auto vs pedestrian crash at the intersection of Ruby and North Foothills Tuesday night. Police say the pedestrian is in stable condition and was alert and speaking with officers while being treated at an area hospital.

Around 7 p.m. Spokane Police responded to the reported crash. The first report from medics was that the pedestrian had received potentially life-threatening injuries during the collision. He was taken to an area hospital where he regained consciousness and spoke with officers.

Witnesses on scene reported the driver of the vehicle was eastbound on North Foothills with a green light when the pedestrian crossed against the signal, southbound on Ruby on the east side of the street. Witnesses also say the pedestrian appeared to be on his cell phone. It does not appear speed or intoxication are contributing factors for the driver of the vehicle and he has not been cited.

The collision remains under investigation and officers plan to have the intersection closed for at least another hour while they process the scene. Anyone who witnessed the crash and did not speak to officers is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
