Early morning Spokane duplex fire displaces family

SPOKANE, Wash. -The Spokane Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at a duplex in the 2300 block of E. 4th Ave. around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

Arriving crews found smoke coming from the rear of the structure with fire in the attic. Firefighters searched the residence, but no victims were found.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire, confining it to the rear unit of the duplex. The fire caused damage to the attic and living space.

The Red Cross responded to help the family displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
