Your could get billed if you don't shovel your sidewalk

SPOKANE, Wash. -In Monday night's City Council meeting Spokane, council members considered a proposed change to the City's municipal code regarding sidewalk snow removal.

The change would give the City authorization to have snow removed when citizens fail to keep sidewalks and walkways clear. The City says the plan calls for hiring extra workers and equipment to clear the snow.

They would recoup the money spent, they say, by charging the cost of the work, plus a $85 administrative fee, to homeowner's utility bill.

The City says there will be ample warning to the homeowner to clear the snow before adding the costs to their utility bill.
