COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -A Coeur d'Alene neighborhood is trying to send a message to whoever is coming in and slashing their car tires. Leave our cars alone. Nearly half a dozen cars had their tires slashed over the weekend. It happened in Coeur d'Alene Place and The Landings, near Carrington Lane. Neighbors say it's a typically quiet neighborhood.
Coeur d'Alene police say they are investigating this case.
Nicole Cosman says on Saturday night, she and her husband were coming home from a Halloween party. They noticed their truck out on the street was leaning to the side. They found out the next day, that two of the tires were slashed on the driver's side. Cosman says it was shocking, especially since last year, the same truck was hit while it was parked by another car during the winter time and still has visible damage from it.
"Very frustrating and those tires aren't cheap at all. They are big truck tires so they are right around 300 bucks a piece. I'm not really sure why this truck was targeted. You can't trust anybody anymore," said Cosman. Cosman says she will be getting security cameras.
Police say one of the things you can do to help prevent something like this from happening is to put your car in the garage. Coeur d'Alene police say they are working with school resource officers in this case. They say it could have been kids that did this. Neighbors reported to police that they saw either a white or silver car.
