SPOKANE, Wash. -People in the Hillyard neighborhood are on edge after a string of fires. Fire investigators are looking into at least two of them as arson.
“I looked out my bedroom window and saw red,” says Dawn Laffoon. “I freaked out.”
Her garage was in flames on October 8 around 1 a.m. Thankfully, she and her son got out safe.
Between October 7 and October 22, there were eight different fires in Hillyard. The three this past weekend aren’t connected, but firefighters are looking into at least two of them as arson.
Dawn just hopes no one else has to go through what she did.
“Make sure things are shut up, things aren't loose. Be watchful,” Dawn says.
Firefighters also say just be aware and if you ever see anything suspicious call police.
