SPOKANE, Wash. -Crews were busy today as they put in new landscaping around the very anticipated Riverfront Park ice ribbon “it's really exciting because everything is coming together this fall and over the winter," said Director of Parks and Recreation Leroy Eadie.

The ice ribbon will be the first one to open. But they haven't given us an exact date because they want it to be a surprise but did give us a hint “The first big project we will be opening up is the ice rink here and were going to open it up during the holiday season,"Eadie added.

The ice ribbon will also have fire pits around the main area where people can open skate enjoy hot coco and have fun with family and friends and you'll start seeing crews as early as next week testing out the state of the art cooling equipment for the very first time. “here in the next week or two we are going to start making ice that's going to come at us pretty quickly," Eadie said

This is all part of the City of Spokane's 64 million dollar renovation of Riverfront Park “It’s going to be a real I think the most important grand opening ribbon cutting we're going to have with river front park because it's our first big project we've completed so we are excited about that.” Eadie concluded.

An announcement will be made on October 30th, 2017 at 11:30am.
