Coeur d'Alene Police have confirmed they've made an arrest in connection to one of three recent Lake City High School social media threats.
Police say since October 6, 2017, they have received reports of three threatening incidents involving Lake City High School and students. Detectives say they worked with the school district and were able to identify suspects for two of the incidents and "have taken appropriate action."
The first incident, which occurred on Friday October 6th, involved a photograph that was perceived as a threat. The photograph was posted to Snapchat with derogatory comments directed toward Lake City High School students. The juvenile suspect involved in this incident was identified and is facing disciplinary action through the school district. Criminal charges were not applicable in this case.
The second incident, reported on Sunday October 8th, involved an anonymous threatening message posted to a separate social media app. The threat was directed toward a female student and Lake City High School. Detectives are continuing to follow up with leads related to this incident.
The third incident, which occurred on October 11th, involved an anonymous threatening message and a separate picture with a threatening caption. Through the course of the investigation, Detectives learned both were posted by the same suspect. The juvenile male was identified as a Lake City High School student and has been arrested and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. His is facing four misdemeanor counts of Using the Telephone to Terrify, Threaten, or Harass – Idaho code 18-6710.
"School threats are extremely serious and, as in the past, we will continue to fully investigate each incident. We would like to remind parents to be vigilant in monitoring your child’s use of social media applications," the police department said in a release on Thursday.

Coeur d'Alene Public Schools have announced security changes at Lake City High School following a new threat.
The district says the following policies will be in effect today:
LCHS students will not be allowed to use personal electronic communication devices (including cell phones) during school hours effective immediately and until further notice.
Students will not be allowed to leave campus for lunch
Until further notice, once students arrive on campus no student will be allowed to leave the building before 2:30 p.m.
Lake City High School administration is offering a $800 reward for information that leads to the identification of the individual(s) involved in these social media postings.

On October 11, 2017 at about 6:30 p.m., the Coeur d’Alene Police Department was notified about another threat posted to the social media account of a male student at Lake City High School.
Detectives were called out to interview the male and gather as much information and evidence as possible. In this case, just as in the previous case, officers will continue to work with the FBI and other federal agencies and with the social media applications to identify and locate to person responsible for these malicious threats.
Police say the safety of area students is their top priority. Administrators with School District 271 and Lake City High School have been notified and are working in conjunction with law enforcement. On Thursday, the staff at Lake City High School will be implementing changes to increase security at the school. Also there will be additional police officers at all area schools, including Lake City High School,looking for suspicious activity.
