SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -Spokane Valley Firefighters were able to prevent a fire from spreading after a portable toilet wound up in flames next to Trentwood Elementary on Sunday afternoon.
Crews responded to a report of a portable building on fire around 4 p.m. Sunday. A full response was prompted after black smoke was seen from Trent and Sullivan.
After the first engine arrived, the fully-involved portable bathroom was quickly extinguished. Other units checked the school building to confirm the fire didn't extend to any interior. The other responding units were cancelled after crews determined there was no threat to the school.
Damage was limited to the exterior wall of the school. Trentwood Principal Barbara Cruse stated that school will continue Monday as scheduled.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported on scene.
