SPOKANE, Wash. -Traffic cameras are back on in school zones after being off for the summer.
The cameras are near Longfellow Elementary and Finch Elementary. Two more will also be added near Ridgeview Elementary and Willard Elementary.
“It only takes a second for a student to dart out front and for something bad to happen, so this is an opportunity for us to remind drivers to be extra vigilant in these school zones,” Brian Coddington, a spokesman for Spokane Public Schools, said.
State law allows cameras in only three areas: school zones, red-light intersections and railroad crossings.
