SPOKANE, Wash. -With the start of the new school year upon us, there is a lot of excitement from kids eager to get back into the classroom.
But there are also a lot of social pressures like new outfits, backpacks, or even lunch boxes. While not everyone can afford new stuff at the start of the school year, one north Spokane barber is making sure some kids can feel confident as they had back to class.
The Yard Barber in Hillyard is offering free haircuts to kids from low-income families. The line was out the door Monday, and organizer Nick Dugas says the event was shared more than 500 times on Facebook.
If you missed the event, Dugas says they are offering the same deal next Monday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Dugas also says you can donate money or school supplies that will go directly to the Northeast Youth Center.
