SPOKANE, Wash. -Police are looking for a suspect who struck an officer's car and led police on a chase in Spokane Saturday afternoon.
Spokane Police say an officer tried to make a traffic stop on Liberty and Smith in the Bemiss area around 1 p.m. Saturday, when the black SUV backed up and rammed into the patrol car before fleeing.
Police engaged in pursuit of the vehicle temporarily but called it off for public safety as the SUV was driving recklessly into vehicles and yards.
After disengaging, police believe the vehicle hit a curb and popped a tire, and the suspect fled west on Sinto.
A perimeter was set up and K-9 units were dispatched. Police are still in search of the suspect, and have no description at the moment.
An official says the officer who was rammed in his patrol car is fine.
