SPOKANE, Wash. -A 60-year-old man was killed in a vehicle-bicycle collision Wednesday evening in Spokane.

Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, a witness said the bicyclist was traveling west across Division when he went over a divider and was struck by a car.

Off-duty personnel including a Spokane Police officer, detective, AMR medic, registered nurse and a doctor from Deaconess Hospital stopped immediately to render medical aid. The bicyclist was later pronounced dead on the scene.

Spokane Police say bicycles aren't allowed on Division St. and he wasn't in a cross walk.

The female driver told police she didn't know what happened at first and looked in her rearview mirror and pulled over.

The identity of the deceased and the cause of death will be released by the Spokane Medical Examiner’s Office once proper notifications have been made to the family of the deceased.

Division southbound from Garland to Bridgeport was closed until about 9:30 p.m. as the scene was investigated.
