Thursday morning, three Spokane schools were forced into lockdown after police say a man threatening suicide was reported in the area.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. police received a call from someone stating that a man with a firearm was running down the street in the 1000 block of E. Central Ave. Schools in the surrounding area were quickly put into lockdown as a precaution to students and staff.
Law enforcement found the man running down the street near N. Helena St. and W. Joseph Ave. Officers safely took the man into custody and discovered a firearm in his bag. Officers say the firearm was "a very realistic looking replica."
The man was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and schools reopened after the man was taken into custody.
