Reporter Jim Acosta's White House Credentials Temporarily Restored

Jim Acosta's press credentials temporarily restored

A federal judge has temporarily restored CNN reporter Jim Acosta's White House credentials, it was reported Friday

Judge Timothy J. Kelly issued his ruling Friday morning in what is seen as an initial victory for CNN in its lawsuit against President Donald Trump and other aides in the administration.

CNN alleges in its lawsuit that CNN and Acosta's First and Fifth Amendment rights were violated after his press pass was taken from him.

The case continues, but CNN's request for a temporary restraining order was granted by the judge, restoring Acosta's White House credentials for now. Acosta will once again be allowed access to the White House for a short period of time.

The judge explained while granting his order that he believes CNN and Acosta are likely to prevail in the case overall.

The White House suspended Acosta's White House credentials following a tense exchange Acosta had with President Trump at last week's post-midterms press conference. Other defendants named in the lawsuit include White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders and White House chief of staff John Kelly.
