The Spokane County Board of Health did not expect to see County Health Officer Dr. Bob Lutz get fired last week. In publicly released emails, members of the board said they expected Lutz to be disciplined last week, though there is no explanation for what reason. However, Administrative Officer Amelia Clark asked Lutz to submit his resignation during an executive session, and then fired him. Board member and Spokane City Council President Breean Beggs raised concerns the move violated the Open Public Meetings Act, but Clark failed to correct the error during a press conference even after saying she would.
