Spokane City Council Considering $5.8 Million Property Tax

The Spokane City Council is thinking about raising property taxes in order to make you safer.

The council is considering asking voters to approve a new $5.8 million dollar tax increase that would pay for 20 new police officers and keep paying 30 firefighters who's funding will run out next fall.

According to The Spokesman Review, if your home is worth $200,000, you'd end up paying another $60 a year.

If the city agrees to ask voters about the tax, it'll be on the February ballot.
