HI-TECH HEIST: Trump campaign firm Cambridge Analytica poached FB data for ‘psycho-metric’ scam

Cambridge Analytica, the London-based data analytics firm that was hired by Donald Trump’s campaign team, helped themselves to the personal data of more than 50 million Facebook users – then used the data to identify “persuadable voters that could be influenced to vote for the Trump campaign,” as explained by Cambridge Analytica’s CEO, Alexander Nix while speaking at the 2016 Concordia Summit.

Facebook suspended Cambridge Analytica from its platform and denied any wrongdoing, saying users give their consent when they create an account. The scandal has given rise to a #DeleteFacebook movement and lead to a drastic drop in Facebook’s stock.

Monday, an undercover investigation by Channel 4 News in the U.K. featured a series of videos with Senior executives at Cambridge Analytica using unscrupulous intelligence-gathering techniques and “psychological warfare tools” to run election campaigns all over the world, including here in America.

“They use this to gain information and map the personalities of over 50 million Facebook users. You may be one of them … I think this was in [Orwell’s novel] Nineteen Eighty-Four.

“Cambridge Analytica is a company that is owned by the funders of Breitbart, and Steve Bannon is on the board. They were hired by the Trump campaign to help them out in the 2016 election,” said Glenn on the show today. He added that the Channel 4 News documentary, “uncovered, not only clever manipulation of social media but also tactics that might make a Soviet Union spy nod in approval — or even get a little bit squeamish.”

Watch the video clip above to see Glenn’s in-depth look into the controversial use of “psychometrics” by data analytics firms like Cambridge Analytica.

“What [psychometrics] does is it analyzes your social media activity and it ‘maps’ your personality. They use this to gain information and map the personalities of over 50 million Facebook users. You may be one of them,” said Glenn. “Once they obtain that data, they can ascertain what drives you, what you’re afraid of. From there, they showed you what made you afraid, and turned it into something that would make you angry … I think this was in [George Orwell’s novel] Nineteen Eighty-Four.”
