Markus Edegran, a Swedish-American sailor, is set to make his Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the men's formula kite category. Born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida, Edegran began his sailing journey at the tender age of eight and started racing just two years later. His passion for the sport led him to St. Mary's College of Maryland, where he honed his skills in traditional sailboats across the 420, FJ, and ILCA classes.

Edegran's love for speed and high-performance sailing led him to explore various sailing classes, including 49ers, GC32s, Waszps, and M32s. In 2017, he was selected as a bowman for the Red Bull Youth America's Cup Team on the AC45. However, it was in 2018 that Edegran discovered his passion for kitefoil racing. He officially committed to the discipline in 2019, setting his sights on qualifying for the Paris 2024 Games.

In his first year in the new sailing class, Edegran quickly rose to the top, finishing 6th at the 2020 Hydrofoil Pro Tour. He also won domestic titles at the US Open Sailing Series and Kitefoil League. Internationally, Markus placed 15th at the 2021 Formula Kite World Championships in Torregrande, Sardinia, Italy, securing his spot on the US Sailing Team.
