Bannon: Bush Didn't Understand His Own Speech

Steve Bannon has published plenty of criticisms of the Trump administration since returning to Breitbart—but he's not happy about George W. Bush joining in with criticism from a different angle. In an address to the dinnertime banquet of the California Republican Party convention Friday night, Bannon apologized to any "Bush folks" in the audience before launching a blistering attack on the former president over a speech he saw as critical of President Trump, the Washington Post reports. 

"The speechwriter wrote a highfalutin speech," Bannon said, but "it's clear [Bush] didn’t understand anything he was talking about." "He has no earthly idea whether he’s coming or going, just like it was when he was president of the United States," Bannon continued, describing Bush's presidency as the most "destructive" in American history.
