Sitting around the TV with the family isn't as common as it used to be. According to the annual "Digital Democracy" survey conducted by Deloitte, 37 percent of American consumers are watching television shows on digital platforms like laptops or tablets. The use of streaming services like Netflix and Hulu has nearly doubled in the past year as well. Thirty-two percent of Americans now stream television, compared to 17 percent last year. The study points to the ability to multi-task as one of the main motivators for those shifting away from watching TV on a traditional set.
