The cost of getting away from it all continues to rise. American Express says the average person will spend nearly 12-hundred dollars per person on their summer vacation. That's up about a hundred dollars from last year, and fueling the increase are higher airline fares. Ticket prices are up about six percent for the top ten U.S. destinations, averaging roughly 415 dollars for a round trip. Travel website Orbitz says the most popular destinations like New York and Honolulu are seeing the biggest price increases.
