All gatherings of more than 250 people in Spokane County CANCELED

Spokane County is joining the rest of the state and canceling large gatherings.

All gatherings of more than 250 people in Spokane County will be canceled during the next 30 days.

The announcement Friday morning by Spokane County Health Officer Dr. Bob Lutz comes on the heels of community efforts to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Lutz said the cancellations do not extend to schools at this time.

Spokane does not yet have a confirmed case of coronavirus, although health officials have said they believe the virus is here and has been circulating.

He said the situation remains fluid and officials will continue to monitor the global COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the cancellation orders extend to church services, concerts and other gatherings.
