Coeur d'Alene Police investigating school shooting threat made on Snapchat

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -Coeur d'Alene Police are investigating a reported school shooting threat at Coeur d'Alene High School. A spokesperson for the district said that the threat was written on a napkin and shared  on Snapchat.

It says: "CHS school shooting 10-19-18. Be ready."

Police tell us that while they are still investigating whether the threat is credible, they do not believe the CHS that the note mentions is referring to Coeur d'Alene High School.

The school district issued a statement about the threat Thursday night, saying the threat may have originated from another time zone, but as a precaution there will be additional law enforcement on campus. The full statement is below:

Coeur d’Alene Public Schools and the Coeur d'Alene Police Department are aware of an image of a hand-written threat being shared on Snapchat on Thursday evening. The note makes reference to “CHS.” Detectives are currently investigating this social media post, which appears to have originated from another time zone. There has been no determination that this post represents a credible threat or is a reference to Coeur d’Alene High School. Police will continue to investigate the source of the post, and as a precaution there will be additional law enforcement presence tomorrow at Coeur d’Alene High School. We will share additional information with you as we learn more.
