he City of Spokane launched a new multicultural celebration on Tuesday called Fiesta Spokane.
Mayor David Condon proclaimed that September is Hispanic Heritage Month.
Over the next several weeks, Spokane leaders said there will be a series of Hispanic-themed events, costing about $35,000. They added that there will be four nationally-recognized heritage months.
The events will celebrate Asian Pacific Islanders, African Americans, Native Americans, and Hispanics.

The Director of Local Government and Multicultural affairs said money will come from community partners and sponsors like local hotels and universities.
"No city funds have been utilized for this. This is all the community stepping in and stepping up to fund." said Gloria Ochola, Director of Local Government and Multicultural Affairs.
