The resident of a home where Spokane Police fatally shot an armed robbery suspect says he intended to commit suicide by cop.

Charity Burland says she was being interviewed at the police department when the shooting took place at her home.

Burland told KREM 2 News that the suspect told her he wasn't going back to prison and that he wanted to die.

Police say the suspect didn't drop his weapon when they told him to, but eyewitnesses, including one who recorded the incident, say he wasn't given time before police fired.

Fourteen shell casings were found in the walls, a glass door, TV, and siding of the house.

Burland says the gun the suspect was holding was a fake and he was not going to hurt officers.
