>>Duf Daddy

I know everyone is spelling his nickname with two Fs.  But I like it better with one. Because it is different.  And Jason Dufner is indeed different.  His friend and fellow champion golfer Keagan Bradly calls him "Duff Daddy" and for a PGA Championship that did not include Tiger or Phil, it sure was entertaining.  Watching the guy next door, Jason Dufner, go head to head with the loopy swing of Jim Furyk.  Duf held on down the stretch to win his first major at the 95th PGA Championship from Oak Hill Country Club in New York.  He was 10-under.  This is his third career PGA TOUR win, with the previous two coming last year at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and the Byron Nelson Championship.  Jim Furyk finished in second with a minus-eight after bogeys on the final two holes.  Last year's winner of this event Rory McIlroy ended at minus-three.  Tiger Woods shot an even par fourth round to close out the Championship at plus-four.  Phil Mickelson was two-over for a plus-12 overall.

>>Hernandez, Mariners Nip Brewers

Felix Hernandez shut out the Brewers on four hits over eight innings to lead the Mariners to a 2-0 win at Safeco Field.  Hernandez got all the run support he needed from a solo home run by Justin Smoak.  Dustin Ackley also came in to score on a wild pitch.  Hernandez struck out nine and improved to 12-and-5.  Danny Farquhar pitched the ninth inning for his fourth save.  The M's start a three-game series against the Rays tomorrow.

>>Seahawks Injury Update

The Seahawks backfield underwent some changes at practice yesterday.  Running back Robert Turbin returned to practice from a foot injury.  Rookie Christine Michael sat out with back spasms and could miss a couple days.  Michael shined in Seattle's opening preseason game with 16 carries for 89 yards.

>>Huskies Didn't Practice Yesterday

The Washington Huskies had yesterday off.  On Saturday they held their first two-a-day to complete the first week of fall practice.  Washington opens up the season on August 31st against Boise State.

>>Cougs Did

Ferris High grad Connor Halliday tossed two touchdown passes in Washington State’s first scrimmage of preseason camp Sunday afternoon.

The offense scored 5 touchdowns while the defense tallied five sacks, led my junior linebacker Ivan McClennan’s two.

Halliday went 13-of-19 for 117 yards and threw touchdown passes of five yards and 34 yards while freshman running back Gerard Wicks made a scrimmage-high five catches while sophomore wideout Brett Bartolone totaled four catches for 40 yards including a touchdown.

>>Sounders Fall To Toronto FC

Mauro Rosales scored in the 16th minute as Seattle Sounders FC defeated Toronto FC 2-1 at BMO Field.  Clint Dempsey made his Seattle debut as a substitute and played 56 minutes.  He registered five shots in the win.  Doneil Henry hit an own goal in the 40th minute to give Seattle a 2-0 lead.  The Sounders meet the Houston Dynamo on Saturday.
